Flash edition of the Radar: Anthropic publishes its IPO prospectus and admits it will change prices, limits, and models. What to secure in your contract.

Flash edition. A follow-up to this morning's Radar. Anthropic has now made its IPO prospectus public. The big numbers are grabbing the headlines; what matters to Claude users are three sentences about prices, limits and models.

What happened

Anthropic filed its IPO prospectus (Form S-1) today, Monday, October 26, with the SEC, the U.S. securities regulator. It is seeking to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker "ANT"; Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are leading the offering, and the share price and listing date are still left blank (Source). Until today, only leaked drafts were known, such as the one we covered in the October 21 flash.

The official figures: it brought in $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026, compared to $1.2 billion a year earlier, and in the second quarter it already posted an operating profit, with an 8% operating margin. It has more than 11,900 customers who pay at least $100,000 per year, up from about 950 twelve months ago. Usage-based billing makes up 80% of its revenue, and its five largest customers account for nearly a quarter of sales (CNBC).

Why it matters

A prospectus has to spell out the risks for investors, and three of them land on customers. Anthropic states that it has changed its prices and expects to do so again, and that it might need to shorten contracts or charge per task or per result. It acknowledges that it has also changed, and may change again, the usage limits and capabilities of its models. Furthermore, it warns that its agents consume significantly more compute than a chat: if it cannot charge for them proportionally, it will struggle to be profitable. One data point summarizes it: models launched in the last six months generated more than 80% of its third-quarter revenue. The model you use today has a short shelf life.

What it means for your business

  • Get notice periods in writing. Before renewing, ask how much advance notice they will provide if they retire a model or change usage limits, and have it written into the contract.
  • Keep a test set ready to switch models. Keep 20 real-world tasks with their correct results; when a new model is released, run them in an afternoon and decide based on data.
  • Budget agents separately from chat. The provider itself warns that they are more expensive to serve: calculate the cost per completed task and set a monthly spending cap.

On the AI First ladder, an agent that only works with a specific model is not UNATTENDED: it is waiting to be retired.

Frequently asked questions

There is no date or price range yet: the prospectus leaves them blank. The financial press expects it in November.

Can I buy Anthropic shares now?

No. Once it lists, it will trade on the Nasdaq as "ANT". This is information for companies using Claude, not investment advice.

Does anything change today for Claude users?

Nothing immediate: prices and contracts remain the same. The news is that the company admits in writing that prices, limits, and models will change, so it pays to lock these terms into your contract.
